Production
On this page, you’ll find several pieces of production that I have produced. They include commercials and radio station imaging pieces.
Spots
Below, you’ll find several spots that I have produced, both at Radio Woodstock and as a Freelancer. They feature a wide range of themes, from concerts, to local businesses, and nationwide campaigns. I served as the engineer for all of them, and in some instances as copywriter and voice talent.
Solstice Community Solar – Planet
For this spot, I was simply given the instructions “sci-fi in space” and told to come up with something. This is the result. I had a hand in writing the script, but mainly served as engineer for this entire session. I found and recorded the talent, placing several effects over their voices to give the feeling of being on a spaceship. I then found sci-fi sounding music and sound effects, and edited all of these components together to create the final piece, taking great care to not overwhelm any of the voice parts with the background noise.
Rondout Savings Bank – 150th Anniversary, #1
This was a spot for a local bank that was celebrating its 150th year in operation. I was chosen as the voice of the campaign, as well as the engineer for the sessions. Before producing, I collaborated closely with the CEO of the bank and the Compliance Officer to ensure that the information relayed in the spots was correct. This series of spots, totalling 3, aired on every station within the bank’s area of operation for the entire yearlong celebration.
Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice 2018
This spot was brought to me pre-written, with the music pre-selected already by the clients (who also served as the talent). The challenge in this session was recording two separate voice parts at different times, but finding a way to make them sound as if they were standing right next to each other. Another challenge was making sure the music levels were not overpowering the voices, as the volume of opera music can change suddenly without warning.
US Army – ROTC – Incoming Freshmen, University of Arkansas
This was one of several spots produced for various different universities in Texas and Arkansas for this specific campaign. This campaign aired in the areas of TCU, Tarleton State, Prairie View A&M, UTSA, University of Houston, University of Arkansas, UCA, and UAPB.
The Anchor – You Know You Want Burger
The client, a local burger restaurant in Kingston, NY, came to me having done no prior advertising of any kind. They had heard other restaurant advertising, and did not want their spot to sound, in their words, “boring like those.” They brought one of their waiters, who does stand-up comedy on the side, to voice this spot. They had a very specific idea for their spot, something which the sales rep did not think was a good idea. I engineered this session, and recorded the waiter reading the client’s version. It ended up being one take, and aired for close to 2 years in this form.
BSP Kingston – Grizzly Bear
Radio Woodstock and BSP Kingston presented two nights of the band Grizzly Bear in 2017, in celebration of the release of their album Painted Ruins that same year. The shows served as an album release party, and I was selected to produce this spot. Myself and the music director (who is the voice of this spot) hand selected the music that would best encapsulate what Grizzly Bear’s sound was, and what would appeal best to general audiences. In the end, both shows were sellout shows, and hugely successful for Radio Woodstock, BSP Kingston, and Grizzly Bear.
Radio Woodstock – Pink October, LP Concert
Every October, Radio Woodstock hosts Pink October to raise money for Breast Cancer research. In 2017, LP agreed to perform on the soundstage in the station. I was only given a script to work with, nothing more. Initially, the spot was only scheduled to be 30 seconds long, but after hearing my rough draft and ideas for the spot, the program director agreed that it should be a 60 second spot.
Meltasia Music Festival 2016
Similar to the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice spot, this session began with a script and music choices pre-made by the client. However, the client insisted that a majority of the artists have music in the spot, something that presented a challenge given the script was jam packed with information as is. However, the client and myself were able to collaborate and find a way to make it work.
American Red Cross – Blood Donation
For this spot, the script came directly from the American Red Cross, and I was given the chance to find the music, engineer, and serve as the voice talent. This spot aired for nearly 3 years on Radio Woodstock, at times spread throughout the day.
Imaging
The following are imaging pieces I created during my time at Radio Woodstock. As we did not have an Imaging Director, and given my position as Assistant Production Director, the task of creating station imaging fell to me. During this time, I handled Radio Woodstock’s rebranding in 2016, creating all new imaging from the ground up, using new voice talent, music, and themes. In addition, when lineup changes occurred in 2017, myself and the new Program Director collaborated extensively on what the new sound for the station would be, which included creating even more new imaging pieces. Aside from those instances, I also handled all specialty programming imaging.
